- Clinical skills: Enhanced assessment, nutrition support, and patient centered counseling skills in diabetes, oncology, gastroenterology, cardiology, and critical care utilizing the Nutrition Care Process during two community hospital rotations. Completed advanced pediatric rotation at Children’s National Medical Center. Achieved meets/ exceeds expectations during an adult clinical case study presentation, “Perforated Peptic Ulcer.” Managed up to 10 patients per day on multiple units during clinical staff relief. Attained entry-level proficiency in two different electronic health record systems.
- Long-Term Care skills: Developed entry-level proficiency in assessment, MDS documentation, and care planning process during long-term care and rehabilitation center rotation. Completed simulations addressing budget management, hours/position justification, and managing hourly employees.
- Outpatient skills: Developed entry-level patient-centered interviewing and counseling skills during individual pediatric weight management counseling sessions, outpatient dialysis rotations, and community-based SNAP-Ed classes.
- Professional/Business and Presentation skills: Selected for abstract-poster presentation at DCMADA 2014 Spring meeting; abstract poster (“Impact of Removing Salt Shakers from University Dining Room”) was awarded “best project”. Invited co-presenter at Maryland Dietitians in Health Care Communities Spring meeting; presentation described Trello, a free project management software for use in clinical project management.
